Bulk Sorbents
SKC bulk sorbent materials meet stringent specifications for environmental applications and undergo extensive cleaning procedures to assure low backgrounds. A wide range of sorbents are available.
Drying Tubes
For sampling moisture-sensitive compounds, SKC offers a pre-drying tube. The sorbent (sodium sulfate) removes moisture while other chemicals in the airstream pass through unaffected.
Formaldehyde Sampling Tubes
SKC sorbent sample tubes meet the specifications of EPA Method TO-11A and ASTM Method D 5197 for the determination of formaldehyde (and other aldehyde) concentrations in ambient air without the incompatibility and breakthrough problems of the cartridges specified in EPA TO-11 and EPA IP6A.

OSHA Versatile Sampler (OVS) Tubes
The unique construction of this versatile tube allows for the simultaneous collection of aerosols and vapors. Originally designed by OSHA to overcome some of the inconveniences of earlier methods, it is often referred to as the OSHA Versatile Sampler (OVS). This specially designed glass tube contains a filter to trap aerosols and a two-section sorbent bed to adsorb vapors.
High Volume PUF (Polyurethane Foam) Tubes

Thermal Desorption Tubes
Suitable for EPA to-17 Sampling of VOCs. SKC sorbent technology research has produced superior materials for the collection of organic compounds for thermal desorption. Thermal desorption techniques offer the advantage of greatly improved analytical sensitivity. Because a solvent is not used, the collected sample is not diluted and, in most cases, analytical recovery is so close to 100% that desorption efficiency corrections are not required
Treated Sorbent Tubes
SKC offers a complete line of sample tubes with sorbents that have been washed, coated, or treated in a special way to better collect specific chemical hazards. For many airborne chemicals, these sorbents provide a suitable sampling alternative to wet chemistry methods using impingers. Tubes for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
VOCs include hydrocarbons, oxygenated hydrocarbons, and organic compounds containing nitrogen or sulfur. VOCs are emitted from a variety of industrial and commercial facilities into the atmosphere and pose a potential health hazard to industrial workers in particular and the public in general. SKC manufactures VOC sample tubes to meet published EPA air sampling methods.
Tubes for Volatile Organic Sampling Trains (VOST)
For sampling of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and volatile principal organic hazardous constituents (POHCs) from stationary emission sources, including hazardous waste incinerators, EPA method 0031 uses a Volatile Organic Sampling Train or VOST sampler.

  SKC Air Sample Bags and Accessories for Active Sampling

Sample Bags
Bags of various materials with a choice of fittings are available from SKC for collecting air contamination mixtures. SKC offers Tedlar bags while supplies last. New alternative bag materials are also available with performance similar to Tedlar including SamplePro FlexFilm and Kynar. four-layer FlexFoil bags are available for landfill gases and other gases not stable in Tedlar or equivalents. SKC also offers FluoroFilm bags and other specialty bags as standard or custom options.
SKC Vac-U-Chamber
This rigid container is designed for collecting bag samples using negative pressure methods. Kits are available with the rigid container, sample pump, and 8-liter bags for sample bag collection without concerns over pump contamination.
SKC Vac-U-Tube
This acrylic syringe with a removable face plate allows a bag sample to be collected manually into a specially designed 0.7-liter bag placed inside.

Passive Sampling 

Passive (diffusive) samplers provide a simple, reliable, and economical method for air sampling. Available for personal and area sampling, these small, lightweight samplers include passive badges, formaldehyde samplers, Passive Bubblers and color dosimeter (diffusion) tubes. Organic Vapor Passive Sampler
SKC passive samplers are small "badges" that collect organic vapors without the use of a pump. Individual chemicals simply diffuse from the atmosphere into the sampler at a fixed rate. SKC has scientifically validated the sampling rate of the 575 Series passive samplers along with other critical sampling parameters to provide you with documented proof of reliability.
VOC Passive Sampler: ULTRA I — Prefilled
SKC ULTRA Passive Samplers provide reliable sampling of low-level volatile organic compounds (VOCs) without the use of a pump. Target chemicals simply diffuse from the atmosphere into the sampler at a fixed rate. Analysis is by highly sensitive thermal desorption with gas chromatography (GC).
ULTRA I Passive Samplers are prefilled samplers that permit easy and direct transfer of sorbent to a thermal desorption tube in the laboratory.
VOC Passive Sampler: ULTRA II — User-filled
SKC ULTRA Passive Samplers provide reliable sampling of low-level volatile organic compounds (VOCs) without the use of a pump. Target chemicals simply diffuse from the atmosphere into the sampler at a fixed rate. Analysis is by highly sensitive thermal desorption with gas chromatography (GC).
ULTRA II Passive Samplers are user-filled. The user transfers sorbent directly into and out of the badge housing. Before and after sampling, sorbent is stored in glass vials with PTFE caps to maintain low background, longer shelf-life, and to facilitate shipping to the laboratory for analysis.
Formaldehyde Passive Sampler: UMEX 100
The UMEX 100 Passive Sampler for formaldehyde was developed in collaboration with the National Institute of Working Life in Umea, Sweden. Constructed of tough polypropylene, the UMEX 100 contains a tape impregnated with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) for reliable collection of formaldehyde.
Amines Passive Sampler: UMEX 400
The UMEX 400 Passive Sampler for Amines was developed in collaboration with the National Institute of Working Life in Umea, Sweden. Constructed of tough polypropylene, the UMEX 400 contains a tape impregnated with 1-naphthyl-isothiocyanate (NITC) for reliable collection of amines.
Sulfur Dioxide/Nitrogen Dioxide Passive Sampler: UMEX 200
The SKC UMEX 200 Passive Sampler effectively collects sulfur dioxide (SO2) and/or nitrogen dioxide (NO2). The sample medium (tape impregnated with triethanolamine [TEA]) and a "blank/correction" section of tape are contained in one sampler saving time and money. The lightweight UMEX 200 clips in the breathing zone for easy personal sampling.
Ethylene Oxide Passive Sampler
The SKC Ethylene Oxide Passive Sampler efficiently collects ethylene oxide in hospitals, veterinary clinics, instrument manufacturing facilities, or wherever ethylene oxide is used. As with all SKC passive samplers, the SKC Ethylene Oxide Passive Sampler has undergone extensive testing. Packed with a specially treated sorbent, this passive sampler provides superior collection of ethylene oxide.
Formaldehyde Passive Sampler for Personal Air Sampling
The Personal Formaldehyde Passive Sampler is designed to accurately measure personal exposures to formaldehyde. With accuracies of at least ± 25%, these devices can be used for OSHA compliance monitoring for either eight-hour PELs or 15-minute STELs. The measuring range of the eight-hour PEL sampler is 0.2 to 2 ppm and the range of the STEL sampler is 0.5 to 6 ppm.
   Formaldehyde Passive Sampler: Indoor Air Sampling
The Indoor Air Formaldehyde Passive Sampler is the only device specifically designed for accurate indoor measurements of low formaldehyde levels in the home, office, or industrial environment over a 5 to 7-day period. The sampler is inexpensive, accurate, and field validated by the Indoor Air Quality Program, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratories at the University of California, Berkeley. The sampler is the first of its kind requiring no special equipment or trained personnel for sampling.
Inorganic Mercury Vapor Badges
The 520 Series Inorganic Mercury Sampler measures worker exposure levels as a time-weighted average (TWA) and permits the positive analysis of inorganic mercury vapor. The SKC inorganic mercury sampler is designed for analysis using standard laboratory equipment and validated by OSHA Method ID 140.
Nitrous Oxide Passive Sampler
The SKC Nitrous Oxide (N2O) Passive Sampler provides accurate and reliable sampling of nitrous oxide in the 50 to 450 ppm range (12.75 to 890 ppm-hrs dose range) for 15 minutes to 8 hours. The sampler clips easily to employee clothing in the breathing zone and does not interfere with activities.
